Crusader Vans is excited to announce the arrival of the New VW Amarok. This is VW’s first foray into the pick-up truck market and is seen as a direct competitor to the Toyota Hilux.

The Amarok gets a classy, aggressive interpretation of the VW grille, a six-speed gearbox, low-range transfer box, permanent four-wheel drive, locking centre and rear differentials, the latest direct-injection, twin-turbo 2.0-litre diesel unit, tuned for 161bhp and 295lb ft, and traction/stability control.

The Amarok will come in three spec levels; Startline, Trendline & Highline with Highline neign the top spec to include Sat Nav, cliamate control, cruise control, electric pack and leather interior. First reports suggest that the qulaity of the interior of the Amarok is higher than most of its competitors with tough, textured materials with controls falling easily to hand.

All models come with the a 2.0 litre BI-TDI diesel engine as standard, which although not the most powerful in this category, offerings some good MPG stats with accomplished torque figures across the range. Early reports from VW suggest average figures of 36 MPG and just under 300 ib ft of torque at 1500rpm. Figures like this make the Amarok stand out from the crown agaisnt the juicy 3.0 litre TDI engine found in competitors such as the Toyota Hilux!
